Canadian National Festival 2012 |  June 8-12 Toronto

Every year, the NKT-IKBU organizes a worldwide program of special courses on Buddhism and meditation which explain how to apply Buddha’s teachings, Dharma, to modern living. The program includes International Festivals, National Festivals and Dharma Celebrations. These events provide precious opportunities to study and practise the special presentation of modern Buddhism taught by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the Founder of the NKT.

These events vary in length from two days to two weeks, but whatever their duration, they all offer a vacation with a difference – a chance to break free from the hectic routines of daily life and focus on the things that really matter. Everyone comes away not only refreshed and relaxed but also spiritually re-energized.

Open to everyone, the annual Canadian Festival is a joyous occasion where people gather from around the country to receive spiritual advice. The Festival provides people an opportunity to relax and enjoy a meaningful spiritual vacation – receiving personal advice on how to improve our lives, meditating on profound teachings, and spending time with friends in the beautiful World Peace Temple, Kadampa Meditation Centre Canada. For more information and to register, please go to the Festival Website.

Drop-in Meditation Classes

Weekly drop in meditation classes offer the chance to learn how to make your mind calm and peaceful. By training in Buddhist meditation you will learn to develop inner peace, which enables you to stay happy and positive even in the most difficult circumstances. Each class is self contained with two guided meditations, some simple instructions on how to meditate and a chance to discuss and ask questions, all in the comfort of a chair.

Mondays 7-8:30pm in Sherwood Park
Tuesdays 7-8:30pm in Edmonton

In April the drop-in classes change from Wednesdays to Tuesdays at the Strathcona Library Branch.

The Next Step | Foundation Program

We have begun a new book in the Foundation Program (FP) called Universal Compassion. Everyone is welcome to attend and find out more about our special study program. The classes are from 1:30-4:30pm at the Strathcona Library Branch EPL. For more information about FP, please see our weekly classes link at: Foundation Program Edmonton.
